...drive storage as you can afford, and any combination of optical drives you cared to name. My own machine is a 3.2GHz (option), 512MB RAM, 80 GB, DVD+/-RW dual layer (all standard). Noticeable lacking is FireWire support, although that was easily remedied with a £10 FireWire PCI card from Aria, and a wireless adapter is extra (£30 from Dell, although they can be bought cheaper if you shop around.) The base model speakers included in the price are acceptable - certainly better than the blow-up ones I had with the laptop, and Dell offer a range of speaker arrangements, all of which are reasonably priced, and you can be guaranteed decent quality.
After ordering it, the reasons for choosing Dell became clear: It took less than four days from order to the delivery man knocking at me door. I ordered it Monday lunchtime, and by 8am Thursday morning...
