Def Leppard is one of the best bands ever. Formed in 1977 in Sheffield, England, they were a hard rock heavy metal band.
Def Leppard has definetely stood the test of time and have over come a lot. They started out with Rick Savage, Pete Willis, Tony Kenning, and Joe Elliot under the name "Atomic Mass" but switched it to "Def Leppard" .
In 1978, they added a second guitarist to the line up name Steve Clark. Kenning left the band, and 15 year old Rick Allen joined the band as a new drummer.
They fired Pete Willis in 1982 due to large amounts of alcohol consumption and replaced him with Phil Collen. In 1984, Rick Allen lost his arm in a car crash when he lost control of his speeding corvette. Despite the loss of his left arm, Rick was committed to the band, and perservered.
In 1991, Steve Clark died from an accidental mix of drugs and alcohol. The band then hired Vivian Campbell in 1992.
Def Leppard has had mcuh success over the years despite all of their hardships. They have sold over 65 million albums worldwide.
