The dial control and speed gauge are easy to use--though the grip is made of a surprisingly light plastic for the heft of the rest of the machine. The Metropolis' jar is formed from heavy-duty glass, marked with metric and imperial measurements, and fitted with a smooth arched handle. Designed to resist scratching and discoloration, the jar holds up to 50 ounces at a time. It stands stably on the countertop, pours smoothly from its tapered spout, and drops into place on the base-no need for twisting it into position. A clever feeding tray nestles into the jar's removable lid, allowing for the tidy addition of ingredients while the machine is running. For extra safety during operation, the blender includes a dual shut-off system that cuts power if the jar or lid is removed or is not in the correct position. The stainless steel blade assembly removes to simplify cleanup, and the base wipes down easily.
