This is the first DVD Player I have purchased. It plays everything that I have put at it on a DVD, backup movie DVDs, mpeg files, jpg, mp3. When I look at other DVD Players - You will not get any one with all GOOD QUALITY and WITH REASONABLE PRICE. I tried playing all brand DVD media and played w/o any problem. This DVD/VCR was a birthday present to me from my husband. I have a huge collection of VHS tapes, as well as stacks of DVD's, so I love having the combination of both in one unit.
