I have just got this Panasonic DVD S54K and I think the player does a fairly good job in up converting the DVD with good picture quality. This DVD/VCR was a birthday present to me from my husband. I have a huge collection of VHS tapes, as well as stacks of DVD's, so I love having the combination of both in one unit. A friend of mine went out and bought this kind of dvd player because her kids had tore up hers in the living room. She did not want to go out and pay alot for one so they bought this one.
