We got Direct TV Plus HD DVR when we moved into this house about a year and a half ago. With all the great gadgets that go with a "Home Theater", this is just icing on the cake!
We are reality TV junkies. With American Idol, Super Nanny, Wife Swap, Ghost Hunters, Smarter Than a Fifth Grader, Beauty and The Geek....You have the idea. A lot of these shows come on at the same time on the same night. Impossible to watch what we want at the time it airs.
This Direct TV systems allows us to record any and all shows we want. Easy remote so that even I can record and go back to what I want to watch. We are able to record shows and then pull up the menu of all the shows recorded. Sometimes it's even the next night when we decide to watch the shows we recorded.
One great feature about watching recorded shows is that you can fast forward through the commercials. Love it! You can also put the show on "Pause" which makes it perfect for letting the dog out, grabbing a snack, etc.
Another good thing about this system, we are able to program the entire season of a show to record. That way we don't miss a single show. Movies can be recorded too.
There is no tape involved. Once the shows are watched, a screen comes up with the option of saving it or erasing it. I'm not sure how much space there is for stored items. But I do know my whole family has their favorites and we all have them recorded for watching later.
I would recommend this to anybody with a busy schedule who just can't get to the TV when they want.
