DCP-486p 2400 - serial adapter - 2 ports

The DCP-486p is the industry's most complete line of intelligent, synchronous/asynchronous WAN adapters for PCI-based PC's, Workstations, and Servers. The DCP-486p features from 2 to 8 Serial ports and support for multiple, concurrent high-speed (T1/E1) connections. The DCP-486p is a fully integrated communications co-processor, including on-board CPU, memory and I/O circuitry. The DCP-486p offloads its host of the processing required to establish and maintain serial communication links thereby preserving PC/Server CPU utilization. The DCP-486p enhances the networking capabilities of its host system and eliminates the need for external connectivity devices such as dedicated bridges, gateways and routers. The DCP-486p is also an ideal platform for supporting custom PC/Server-based communications applications. The DCP-486p combines the power of an 80486DX4 processor with the Hitachi HD64570 Serial Communications Adapter (SCA). The Hitachi SCA integrates a variety of functions (i.e. DMA) and provides support for line speeds in excess of 5Mbps. The 75Mhz on-board processor provides the horsepower necessary for servicing these multiple high-speed serial connections and guarantees that communications bandwidth is always available. All versions (2, 4, and 8 ports) of the DCP-486p feature "self-configurable" serial ports. This feature provides users with the flexibility to individually configure each port to the desired physical/electrical interface (i.e. RS232 /V.24/V.28, X.21, V.35) via Emulex supplied adapter cables. The DCP-486p achieves this level of flexibility and simplicity without sacrificing performance, hardware/software compatibility, or requiring additional I/O modules.
