Needs special filters, no timer, only brews a little at a time

I received one of these as a wedding gift and started using it right away. But we didn't keep using it because it was not the most convenient coffee maker. While the concept is great, in practice it didn't fit into our lives. It doesn't have a timer. This coffee maker also uses smaller cone-shape filters, but at least those are readily available.
It didn't fit into our lives because Hubby and I don't wake up at the same time. After the coffee is done brewing, it doesn't keep it hot. The travel mugs only keep the coffee hot for a limited amount of time. Like any other travel mug, they have an opening. That's how the coffee gets in there in the first place. And while you can brew one mug of coffee, it would have been a waste of time and filters to do so (in our opinion). You may be able to use a different mug (with the lid off), but they have to fit the machine and hold the same capacity because the water indicators on the inside are for their cups.
After buying a regular coffeemaker (a thermal carafe one), we ended up using only the travel mugs. But one of those ended up falling apart after a while. We gave the coffee maker and remaining mug away to a relative who was the sole coffee drinker in her house, and it ended up dying a short while later.
I would not recommend this. The quality is lacking, surprising since it's Cuisinart brand, and it would be a lot better with a timer, because it doesn't keep coffee hot after brewing. Perhaps it would be best for the occasional coffee drinker.
