I got this as a gift, and since I'm not much of a chef, I thought, ok, here's another kitchen appliance to just take up space. But, unless you're making a frozen custard (requiring heating of egg yolks), it can't get any easier. The only recipe I've used from the enclosed book is the one for vanilla, which was great. I also received a Williams Sonoma book which had recipes to be used with any machine. About the machine: The removable middle section ... ...air. You freeze this section for 1 day before using the machine. Then you take it out and replace it into the machine, mix cream & sugar (and any other flavoring ingredients) and pour into the bowl, turn the switch to the on position and leave it for about 30 minutes. An adaptation from its original and very popular ice cream maker, this Cuisinart model is the ICE-30BC. Contemporary looking, this brushed stainless steel ice cream maker is fully automatic with no cranking on your part. Just add your ingredients then let the heavy duty motor take it away - your favorite frozen treat (up to 2-quarts) will be ready in just 25 minutes. For a more-firm dessert, just place the double-insulated freezer bowl in your freezer. The large ingredient spout on top lets you add fruit, nuts or candies while the churning is in process. In addition to ice cream, use it to make frozen yogurt or sorbet. The Cuisinart ice cream maker comes with an instruction and recipe book. Pre-freeze freezer bowl, before each use.
