This is a fantastic bit of kit, providing you don't want it to slip it into your top pocket and leave your charger at home.
If you want to know what an MP3 player does you need to read some technical bumf elsewhere. All you need to know from me is that the disk space is great (20GB, which equates to approx 8,000 tracks, depending on the compression ratios you choose), it's got all the features you'll ever need, you can find your music easily (i.e. search by track, artist, album, genre, playlist etc), it comes with a remote and the software for ripping tracks off your PC is pretty good.
On the downside, there are cheaper units available but you get what you pay for. The battery life...
