...The CreativeSound Blaster AWE64 is an ancient SoundCard released in '95 and was really expensive back then (~300$)
[ EDITED] This was MY experience:
First Impression
The first thing that I noticed was how "realistic" was the sound when I played Duke, Doom, C&C and the games that were then HOT. I also noticed that I had gained allot of performance. Duke Nukem and C&C used the CPU resources for sound effects and this card has her own CPU so the games ran smoother now.
Outdated by Technology
I had this card for several years until i bought a NEW PC, unfortunately the new PC's weren't compatible with this soundcard. All because the Mainboard doesn't come with the 16-bit ISA slot that this card required. So i used the onboard sound for almost a year and I hated it. Everything sounded fake and "lifeless...
