Cowboy Bebop is one of the greatest anime series of all time, right up there with Evangelion, in my opinion. After long years of difficulty finding all the DVDs to find at an affordable price, Bandai finally released the Remix: Complete Collection in its Anime Signature Collection series. This means you can now buy the entire series in a handy book-style case containing all of the DVDs for less money than an Xbox 360 game.
Cowboy Bebop follows the adventures of bounty hunters Spike Spiegel and Jet Black through space, along with the travelers they cross paths with along the way. This includes the energetic young hacker Edward Wong Hau Pepelo Tivrusky IV (a female), the femme fatale Faye Valentine, and the adorable Welsh Corgi Ein.
This is not a show for children, as most ignorant people tend to think that anything animated is definitely for kids. This anime covers a multitude of topics, such as morals, what is real and what is fake, how you should treat others (not in a childish way), revenge, love, intrigue, sadness, regret...it really runs the gamut.
Though the show runs in chronological order, each show is a different standalone story except for a couple that are in parts. Amongst the storylines the viewer will travel to exciting locations all across the universe, in a futuristic world that is very much like our own despite all the new technology.
The music in Cowboy Bebop is one of its crowning glories. The genius composer Yoko Kanno had a hand in each genius track, and it is one of the most memorable anime soundtracks of all time. The opening song, "Tank!" is a piece of airy jazz that will get you pumped and ready to get into the show. The ending song "The Real Folk Blues" is a very somber and reflective tune that fits the mood of the show very well.
This is a "remix" of the anime, so it has been enhanced for Dolby surround and the picture is now clearer than ever. You also get a guide book explaining a lot of the character backgrounds and some of the plot.
If you're a fan of Cowboy Bebop already, you have to pick this up. If you're a new fan, get it! It's a great way to get into the fandom, and if you haven't seen it, you don't know what you're missing!
