Counter Strike is one of the most famous first person shooters out there! I just can't imagine anyone who likes first person shooter games, haven't played this game and if there are still some, I definetely recommend playing Counter Strike as it is really a revolutionary game on the market.
The game is not new after all but it still has reasonable graphics and always excellent sounds. The atmosphere of the game is just great to me. There are millions counter-strike players in the world and even today when I go to an internet cafe I can see kids and men are playing this one shooting each other or just complaining why the other one told where he was to his enemy etc.
The players of the game are just very keen on mastering it and if you log in to some servers online, you will see there are some really god-like players there. While you are walking and looking for an enemy to shoot, you can just die with a shot from a Sniper Rifle and you won't even see who shot you and from where.
This is still a good feeling because as you learn more about the game you will also be able to do the samething to others. I think the game is very action based and cannot be considered as a tactical combat. If you are looking for a tactical combat First Person Shooter game, then I strongly recommend playing Swat 4. This one is only wearing a tactical combat mask but in fact based on action. however, it is not as pure action as halflife, of course it has some tactical stuff in it unlike the multiplayer version of half life.
You can play this game only in multiplayer. If you don't have a propoer internet connection then you can get a bot software and you can play againist bots, but playing with other people is always more fun!
