The ImageAccel Velocity controller card is available in both AGP and PCI versions, so users have maximum upgrade flexibility. The card supports true color depth (24-bit) with 16MB of video memory. RAMDAC, an acronym for random access memory digital-to-analog converter, is a microchip that is built into the video controller chip. Its speed determines the resolution level and corresponding refresh rate. It converts a computer's digital signal into an analog signal. Faster RAMDAC speeds, allow more pixels per second to be placed on the screen. This results in two important benefits, higher resolution that allows the viewer to see more at once and a faster refresh rate to reduce flicker and eyestrain.
