Copland-Yay or nay?
Review of Copland DVD by iamasadlittleboy taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Brilliant casting, brilliant acting, crime movie
Disadvantages Not mind blowing or particularly original

...The title of Copland does give you some indication as to what the movie's about. It's about cop's in a sub urban area of america. Though the story is about deception (not to be spoken about here due to spoilers), the cast fit their roles perfectly in a believeable manner. Sylverster stallone plays the lead role, of a half deaf cop, lusting for a friends wife, while not telling her. Although not a sly fan myself, his performance is immaculate in Copland. With support cast including Robert De Niro (Godfather 2, Taxi driver, Meet the parents, Goodfellas), Ray Liotta (Goodfellas, No escape, Grand theft auto vice city, Narc) and Harvey Keitel (From Dusk til darm, Thelma and louise, Reservior Dogs). You know you have a combination of actors who can out do most. Although it is let down not only by the story but also the lack of extra... Read review

Cop Land
Review of Copland DVD by sparkz45 taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages great film!!!
Disadvantages nope

...Sylvester Stallone is in superb form playing the role of the local sheriff in "Copland." Cop Land is an area across the bridge from New York, where a large proportion of the local residents are New York cops. Stallone's character has always wanted to be a New York Cop but couldn't get in due to a damaged ear which he got as a young boy saving a girl from drowning. So he has had to settle for being the local sheriff where the cops living there are more trouble then the ordinary residents. "Copland" is the type of movie that would probably appeal only to certain people it's a slow paced thriller, but very enjoyable. It also features a star studded cast including Harvey Keitel, Robert Deniro, Ray Liotta as well as many others. Stallone did such a great job he proves that he is more than just an action star. It's hard to say much... Read review

More big names than a Polish phonebook!
Review of Copland (Director's Cut) by Boothegoose taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Grade A acting, police corruption, great plot
Disadvantages None

...Copland is a fantastic film, I watched it when I rented it from my local library and I was absolutly hooked. It is the American version of Infernal Affairs, not only because police corruption is the fundamental aspect of the films but also in the spell-binding perforamcne given by an all-star cast, to excellent effect. The film see Sylvester Stallone, in a far cry from his (stereo)typical roles as an all out action hero, instead plays a deaf, overweight, bumbling idiot of a sherriff of a small suburbian town called Garrison, which is also known locally as Copland, as so many cops from New York live there. He is effectively manipulated and used by a group of corrupt New York cops, including Ray Liotta and Harvey Keitel. A rather interesting aspect of this film is the agonising dilemma Stallone finds himself in, torn betwen to his... Read review
