...The NHL is the top hockey league in North America and Canada. Here I will review all of the divisions and the teams. CENTRAL DIVISION ---------------- This is a very strange division in the NHL The Central has 3 powerhouse teams of the recent years playing in it along side 2 expansion teams. Seems strang to see the expansion teams doing so well. The Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red wings have been old time rivals and the Saint Louis Blues too are a great team. The Nashville Predators are now coming into their own as a force while the Columbus Blue jackets are just getting going. ...as their netminder is none other than Jose Theodore. This set up a Conference final between Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs. It was Carolina who won, the Leafs did well to get this far considering the number of rookies they had called up form St. John's although they managed to keep the Canes at bay for six games. My 'Player of the Round' was Alexander Mogilny (Toronto) who at times seemed like he was King of the Ice. Other notable names were goalies, Curtis Joseph, and Arturs Irbe. The Western Conference Detroit and Dominick Hasek looked dead and out when Vancouver Canucks went two games to zero up. The Red Wings however, came back and won four games in a row to go on to play St. Louis Blues. The Blues beat the Chicago Blackhawks four games to one in a comprehensive victory. Soccer fans will be pleased to learn that Chicago has an MLS (major league soccer) team called the Chicago Fire and the Blackhawks will satisfy ice hockey fans. It is possible to arrange tours of Soldier Field and Wrigley Field (homes of the Bears and Cubs respectively), although the timing of these can be strange.
