The RIO RAID external RAID controller is an ideal storage solution for the mid-range customer that requires enterprise-class capability in their IT environment with capacities ranging from 1-5 TB across 1-300 servers. RIO addresses many of these issues of storage sharing and utilization. With its fault tolerant, modular design and user selectable RAID configurations, RIO offers a high-availability storage solution for those environments where downtime is unacceptable. RIO's modularity not only minimizes service times but also adds scalability in terms of connectivity, capacity, and performance. Because of the higher number of host connections offered by RIO, data sharing is enabled for up to 8 direct attached host computers. When deployed in a SAN environment, additional hosts can have access to data. The ability to access data across multiple hosts invokes concerns over data security and efficient use of the disk storage. Today's disk drive technology offers the potential of tremendous storage capacities. To more effectively manage these larger storage capacities, RIO offers the ability to partition disk arrays into multiple, variable size disk partitions. These capabilities coupled with RIO's high performance offer a storage solution with enterprise class features at an affordable price point.
