Drive units are the heart of any speaker, and those on the F Series are far more sophisticated than you would expect at the price. The high frequency driver is ferrofluid-cooled for increased power handling and smoothness, its fabric dome protected by discreet horizontal fins. The deliciously natural-sounding tweeter is partnered by midrange/bass drivers, whose long throw design delivers unerringly fast, deep bass response. Crossovers are of unusually high specification for budget speakers, to produce a seamlessly integrated sound image. Unlike most entry-level hi-fi speakers, F Series cabinets are precision made from thick MDF, a dense composite whose exceptional rigidity minimizes internal resonance for greater clarity. Similarly, the cabinet edges are carefully contoured to reduce any diffraction effects that may otherwise impair sound quality. A mid-size floorstander handling up to 100W of amplifier power, the two-way F2 partners the same 19mm (3/4") fabric dome tweeter with a 130mm (51/4") coated paper cone midrange/bass driver for more generous bass extension. Inherently musical in its response, handsome to look at and with a surprisingly small price tag, it makes an excellent introduction to hi-fi sound.
