Cannon Powershot S80
Review of Canon PowerShot S80 by
stormragetz
Advantages: Excellent photo quality, Wide varity of features, Excellent video quality
Disadvantages: Slightly heavy and thick
Photo Quality:
Excellent photo quality at highest settings. Colours are vibrant and pictures are sharp.
Range of features:
Video function is pretty good, with several options including highest definition video and low resolution video suitable for emails. Video quality is great, but recommended at short distance. Optical zoom in video does not work too well.
There is also an interesting colour swap function, which can swap a colour in the photo ... ...jacket to a pink one! Otherwise, there is also many standard functions of powershot, such as aperture priority, shutter speed priority, scene mode, manual mode etc. Scene mode contains more than sufficient scenes for casual users, including fireworks, beach and even underwater! Ease of use:
Depends on the type of user. Causal users may find it confusing with all the controls. Semi-professional will be delighted to play around with all the settings.

Advantages Point and shoot capabilities, Ability to adjust advanced settings, Big Screen.
Disadvantages Quite pricey in some shops, not recommended for people who just want to point and shoot only.
...I have always been a fan of photography and persued the hobby ernestly when I got my first SLR for my 18th. But after many failed shots and a rather vague understanding I gave up. It was too expensive and time consuming to get a whole film developed to only get 4 or 5 good shots.
My passion for photography has been renewed again by the Canon S80. If I just want to point and shoot I can use the auto mode and the camera will set all the settings for me. Or I can use one of the preset modes for indoor, outdoor, snow, beach (i wish!) settings etc. Great photos, amazing quality and dead easy.
But, if I do want to get a bit more technical, I can adjust settings and see the effect on the screen straight away. No more scribbling the settings and the shot number in a little book and waiting for the results to be processed at the chemist...

Advantages the 8.0 Megapixel PowerShot S80 artfully combines leading performance technology, a contemporary design and high power precision optics.
Disadvantages A bit expensive
...This camera has so many good features, for example: 8.0 MP CCD, Modern design, 3.6x wide 28mm optical zoom, DIGIC II/iSAPS, 2.5" LCD and Multi Control Dial, 21 shooting modes including XGA movies, 9-point AiAF and FlexiZone AF/AE
Optional accessories, PictBridge and Print/Share, Software and USB 2.0 Hi-Speed. I own one. the picture quality is excellent, i think haven't got other camera can beat this no even the Sony N1. So i strong recomment people buy one if you think the price is not too expensive. for now it will cost you up to £250 if i am right. also the camera is in a quite small size so it should able fit into your proket. So you dont have to worry about carry a buy camera go out, overall this camera is excellent....

Advantages Compact size and full of features.
Disadvantages Really hard to find any!
...The S80 with its 8.0 megapixels of resolution and a 28mm wide angle lens really gives you the best of everything with its compact size, being smaller and lighter than the predecessors in its product family and its ease of use by means of its control wheel / 4-way controller and all the features you would expect from a Digital SL including .6x f/2.8-5.3 wide angle zoom, ISO settings of Auto, 50, 100, 200 or 400, Shutter speeds of 15 secs to 1/2000 and a total of 21 different shooting modes. Modes that allow you more than just limited manual operation, but TOTAL control of the outcome of your photos, and helped by the much larger (2.5") wide viewing angle LCD monitor, that gives you the ability to really see what you are doing even if you are in bright sunlight and a high capacity lithium rechargeable battery.
I totally recommend...
