Manufacturer's product description
Canon's tradition for improving its product lines with advanced imaging technology, product features and innovative design, has never been more evident than with the newest generation of the world's best-selling 35mm SLR camera, the EOS Rebel. The new EOS Rebel Ti takes product design and technological perfection one step further by offering a camera body that is substantially improved in both form and function while incorporating camera features previously found only in higher-end SLR models. It also represents 15 years of EOS System technology and Canon's continued commitment to conventional 35mm photography. Aside from the Rebel Ti's streamlined design, the camera also incorporates several new and improved features including a stainless steel lens mount that's fully compatible with all EF-series lenses; a new retractable built-in flash; an AF tracking speed rivaling that found in Canon's professional EOS-1N model; 2.5 frames per second film advance; a 7-point high-speed selectable autofocus system with superimposed focusing points; and full compatibility with Canon's EX-series Speedlites and advanced flash metering system including wireless E-TTL, FE Lock and High-Speed Sync modes. The Rebel Ti is the 6th generation of Canon EOS Rebel cameras to hit the market since the series began in 1990. The Rebel Ti clearly differentiates itself from its predecessors with its new ergonomic appearance and futuristic style. Canon also improved the overall layout of the camera's controls, positioning them precisely where hands and fingers naturally fall, making the Rebel Ti extremely comfortable to hold and to use. The camera's LCD data panel has been moved from the top of the camera to the back and is much larger than the type used with previous Rebel models and its stainless steel lens mount is a first in any EOS Rebel camera. Using a proprietary CMOS autofocus sensor chip, Canon was able to design the new camera with 7 focusing points which are clearly visible in the viewfinder, giving the photographer greater focusing flexibility. An orientation detection sensor ensures optimum exposure in horizontal and vertical formats. Manual focusing point selection has also been made faster and easier. While depressing the Focusing Point Selector, users simply rotate the Main Dial until the desired focusing point is illuminated in the viewfinder. The EOS Rebel Ti also includes a newly-designed, built-in retractable flash unit with wide-angle covering power up to 28mm (Approx. 13 ft. @ ISO 100). In addition, the built-in flash is positioned higher above the lens to further control red-eye and allows the use of a wider variety of lenses without vignetting. In the Full Auto and Programmed Image Control modes, the built-in flash pops up and fires automatically in low-light or backlit situations. In the Creative Zone modes, flash can be used at the photographer's discretion. The EOS Rebel Ti is also compatible with the complete line of Canon EX-series Speedlites for professional-quality results. At 2.5 frames per second, the EOS Rebel Ti offers the fastest continuous shooting speed available in any Rebel-series camera. In addition, the AF speed and AI Servo mode for tracking moving subjects has been drastically improved and is comparable to that found in the EOS-1N professional-level EOS System camera. Using the Command Dial on the camera, users have immediate access to 12 different shooting modes including Full Auto, Program AE, Shutter Priority AE, Aperture Priority AE, Manual, Auto Depth-of-Field AE, Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Sports, Night Scene, and Flash Off.
