Cambridge SoundWorks Newton Theater T300

The Newton Theater 300 allows you to enjoy the style, refinement and all-out performance of exotic, world-class speakers, at a down-to-earth price. The main speakers of the system are the Newton T300 tower speakers. Each 3-way tower includes both a built-in 10" powered subwoofer with a 150-watt Class D digital amplifier and a passive, (non-powered), 10" speaker. This design lends the best of both audio worlds whether you're listening to music, or enjoying a DVD movie in digital surround sound. A 1" reinforced silk dome tweeter is coupled together with two 4" molded-composite midrange drivers for detailed, accurate middle and high frequencies sound. This 'MTM' (Midrange-Tweeter-Midrange) design results in particularly smooth, even dispersion of middle and high frequencies. When you add the aforementioned 10" powered woofer and the passive 10" woofer and you have incredibly rich-sounding loudspeaker - capable of precise imaging and robust bass response. The center channel speaker is the MC300. Compact yet powerful, the Newton MC300 uses two 4" molded-composite bass diaphragm drivers and a 1" reinforced silk dome tweeter - the same array found in the T300 towers. Because they match, the MC300 is naturally the best-matched center speaker to go with the T300 towers. It produces a robust, wide-range, well-dispersed output with outstanding musical accuracy. The Newton S300 MultiPole surround speakers perform the rear channel sound. A 3-way, 4-driver surround speaker, the S300's Multi-Mode implementation offers three dispersion patterns for optimum performance with any surround sound program material. The Dipole mode provides a diffuse dispersion pattern that seems to be coming "from all directions." Diffuse dispersion is favored for Dolby Surround recordings. The Bipole mode retains the broad dispersion of the Dipole mode, but adds a center focus ideal for synthesized surround applications (e.g. DSP "hall" or "stadium" modes) and many Dolby Digital recordings. Direct (monopole) mode employs a front panel-mounted two-way system of superb fidelity for precise rear speaker imaging on programs featuring a larger amount of complex rear channel sound like many DTS or Dolby Digital concert recordings and DVD-Audio recordings. The modes are chosen via a switch on the underside of the enclosure.
