...Match Of The Day (MOTD) has been one of the best know programmes on British television for over 30 years. The show features on BBC1 and shows all the highlights of the football games that took place on that day in the top division of English football aswell as the best of the FA Cup action. At least it did. Now the BBC have lost the rights to ITV and we must bid farewell to a flagship maiden. THE PRESENTERS: It doesn't matter much now but Gary Lineker was the final presenter this season, Alan Hanson and Trevor Brooking being the preferred panelists with others included at times of absence of the main two. Perhaps most notably here, Des Lynam, the best presenter the BBC ever had switched to ITV last year, will he be ITV's front man for the new season? ...Match of the day is a great program, but how could it not be ? Host Gary Lineker and pundits Alan Hanson and Trevor Brooking make good comments and illustrate features of the game well, but the real strength of the program are the games themselves. The Premier League provides great entertainment for football fans. It is for this reason that I do not see ITV taking it over as a big problem, especially as Des will be back in charge! Although it's great I think MOTD should be put on earlier and they should show highlights of the most entertaining matches, not the 0-0 draws they advertised in the papers.... Read review
