I personally have now come to love the HD DVD player thats for the x-box. After my boyfriend bought it I was a little apprehensive about it seeing as Blue Ray was about to win the race but I have to say I have love watching movies on it. The picture quality is amazing and the movies seem so real and like your actually in the theater. When I got the device it came with a free movie and then we also go 6 other free movies after we sent in the paperwork. ...

Disadvantages: stopped working after <75 days

Personally, loved the Xbox HD DVD. I got it for the kids for Christmas 2007 and found myself online playing different games as well. The HD DVD was just an added perk to the already great system. Advantages: picture and sound quality and price
Disadvantages: slow load time

The Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD player is EXCELLENT. You can hardly tell the difference between hi-def dvd's and regular dvd's because it up converts them to almost equal quality. The only downside I have found is the loading time, but the far superior picture and sound quality is well worth the minute or two it takes to load. I had bought an RCA upconvertor but ended up returning it due to the sub-par picture quality and problems with the door hanging ...

Disadvantages: Plug to plug in is short.

Disadvantages: Software Updates download from internet to CD & load CD in Blu Ray Player

...you must go to the Panasonic website to download player software updates to a CD-R and then put the cd in the Blu Ray player for the actual update. I have tried several times to update my player and it consistently ejects the CD without updating the software. I have not contacted Panasonic about this yet as it doesn't effect the DVD quality but since I have followed directions for this process it is obviously flawed. ... Read review
