...First of all the movie Blade of the Vampire is about a legendary vampire called Vandalis who goes to Hollywood to prey on easy victims, but meets his match in a vampire hunter. As you can see from this, the plot itself isn't the most original one you've ever heard of, since a LOT of vampire B-movies seem to have legendary vampires such as Dracula for example coming back to prey on easy victims. The movie was low budget, yes, but I believe that the special effects didn't have to be a mirror reflection of the movie's budget. ...Blade-Daywalker Vampire. The chosen one as foretold in the writings of LaMagra, the Vampire bible. Wesley Snipes Kicks some mean Vampire butt in this most excellent of films on DVD. Chris Christofferson makes an anti hero's best ever sidekick. From the beginning of this film you are thrown into fight scenes which you could rewind, and rewind and watch over and over again and still see something new. Plenty of blood and dust as vampires are dispatched with in Blade's ice cool style. There are many sub plots in this film. Apart from the main plot of Blade seeking out the vampire that killed his mother and made him what he is- a day walker, neither vampire nor human but something else, there are also romantic sub plots of Blade and the good lady haematologist doctor, Blades relationship with Whistler. ...Well I did my op. for Blade 2 so here's my op. on Blade's first outing. For those who don't know anything about Blade then here is a short re-cap. Blade (Snipes) is born after his mother is attacked by a vampire, this leads to Blade having the strengths of the vampires but none of their weaknesses. Blade and his mentor Whistler (Kristofferson) are on a mission to hunt down and destroy all vampires. But one vampire has big plans, Deacon Frost (Stephen Dorf) wants to unleash the blood god and the only way is to have a 'Day Walker' which happens to be Blade. So now onto the DVD ------------------- The DVD was released by Entertainment In Video and if you've ever seen EIV's releases they always seem to be a bit on the non-excistence of special features, but here they seem to have made a bit of an effort with a trailor, deleted...
