Warning… I'm not a tech person (far from it); I'm a wife and a mom. So my review is from that perspective. This was my first Blackberry purchase, and for the most part, I'm very happy with the decision to move to this type of device.
My husband has used a Blackberry for years. While it is sometimes a bit annoying to watch him type away with this thumbs, I know it enables him to get work done while outside the office, and spend more time with the family. For me, it has never made a lot of sense to use, as the device didn't offer features that I actually use. The Curve has a lot of them.
I love the camera. It is only 2 megapixel, but certainly enough to get some great shots when I don't have my camera available. Also, it was fairly easy to set up my email accounts. I have both Yahoo and Gmail addresses, and now both those emails come to the Blackberry, but remain on my computer to access later. The other feature that I like is the Wi-Fi that lets you connect to the internet while within range of a signal. It is not even close to the same experience as your computer, but nice to have quick access for things such as flight information, weather reports, etc. Finally, the speakerphone is a nice option as I can put the phone down on the counter and talk, while still getting things done, picking up the kids, etc. That helps.
One last thing I'll mention is that I like this keyboard a lot more then the one offered on the Blackberry Pearl. Even though the Pearl was smaller, it was way too hard to type on as individual keys shared multiple letters. It was like typing on my old cell phone.
