I purchased this toaster approximately a year ago. I used to work in the department where small appliances are sold in a local store so I had lots of opportunities to check out the merchandise. The price seemed right on this toaster. It also comes in white and that's the one I have.
Well, I do like the fact that the four openings are wide enough for bagels and pastries. I also like the two sided removable crumb trays. The only problem with the crumb trays is that no matter how careful you are, it still makes a mess.These are dishwasher safe.
It also has pastry settings. Another good thing. We like those toaster strudels for a quick snack out the door in the mornings and this toaster does a good job with them on the pastry setting. I would have to say it does a better job with pastries and bagels than it does with toast.
The only problem I have with it, is that the toast gets very well done on one side and hardly at all on the other. So what I find myself doing is switching them out so both sides get evenly toasted. This is a trick in itself because it's hard to pop the toast up before it does it on it's own. So, you have to unplug it to make the toast pop up. Very frustrating!
It might be a good size for someone with a lot of counter space. I left this toaster on the counter for some time but then found we don't use it all that much. So I've put it in the cabinet. And thinking that I had cleaned it out by emptying the crumb trays, boy, was I wrong! I had to turn it on it's side to fit it in the cabinet and had quite a mess to clean up. I also have my counter top back!
I got an employee discount on it so paid a little less than $40.00 for it. But honestly, the next toaster I buy will not be this particular one.
***As a follow-up less than one month since I wrote this review, one side of this toaster is malfunctioning. It doesn't taost at all no matter what setting it's on and it pops up after about 20 seconds after you push it down. I might as well have a two slice toaster!
