I received this electric knife as a gift for Christmas two years ago. I like Black & Decker products. I believe you get what you pay for and this knife is well worth the price.
I can honestly say that I use this electric knife only a few times a year. For one thing, it's in a cabinet that I don't think about. I will say that it's PERFECT for carving turkeys. Nobody ever wants that job. And I can recall all the different carving jobs that were done on Thanksgivings past. YIKES!
This knife cuts roasts, turkey and chicken with ease. I have never used it on bread, but as soon as I get my new bread maker, I imagine I'll be pulling the old Black & Decker knife out again. I have also used it to slice ham for sandwiches. This does a great job of slicing uniform thickness of the slices.
The blade pops right off which makes it easy to clean. It has a safety lock so that the knife will not operate unless the blade is in place. The blade is stainless steel which also makes cleaning a breeze.
I believe that even though it was a gift and my infrequent use of it, I am definitely getting my money's worth.
****As a follow-up to this review, I tried to use this knife on a roast I had made and it wouldn't cut it at all. I used a Ginsu carving knife and it worked perfectly. I've decided that I am going to give this electric knife away. I have a chef friend who told me that electric knives are "for the birds" and that you can get by with two or three GOOD quality knives in your kitchen. This electric knife is good if you like using them. I just think I don't want to bother anymore.
