Once the iron is plugged in, you can turn the temperature dial to any of the settings that is suitable for your ironing needs. You can use this iron to iron silk, linen, cotton, rayon. It is easy to fill with water for steam, steams evenly without spurts, and easy to see how much water remains in the resourvior. My Black and Decker is light weight and easy to use, heats quickly, sprays well when I want a spray, and cuts down on the time I spend ironing. I am a busy mom and I have a tendency to forget things.
