Manufacturer's product description
BLACK BOX Series 7000 Routers are powerful edge routers, ideal for providing Internet access over T1/E1 for enterprise networks or WAN access to branch offices, and for use in ISPs. And VPN capabilities (optional on midrange models), these routers can protect your data from unauthorized access and corruption. Series 7000 Routers are loaded with wire-speed performance, multilink bonding, VLAN tagging and forwarding, Frame Relay support, Quality of Service (QoS) support, and sophisticated management and security. Each router has two 10-/100-Mbps Ethernet ports for fast connection to your LAN. And because CSU/DSUs are built in, you don't have to buy a separate piece of equipment to connect to the T1 interface. Series 7000 Routers incorporate extensive security features. Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) provide secure communications for your offices over public infrastructures. Network Address Translation (NAT) enables the router to "hide" the IP addresses on your private network from the Internet. The routers also offer Denial of Service (DoS) Protection, Access Control Lists (ACLs), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Trivial File Transfer Protocol (TFTP), Password Authentication Protocol (PAP), RADIUS Authentication, Terminal Access Controller Access Control System (TACAS+), Secure Shell protocol (SSH2), and the IPSec management interface. When you need more bandwidth than T1 but aren't yet ready for T3, Series 7000 Routers can help you bridge the gap by combining up to eight lines into a single integrated circuit with up to 12.352 Mbps of bandwidth. Load balancing ensures that packets are distributed evenly across all connections. The routers feature a fast-path forwarding engine that maintains wire-speed throughput with low latency - even with small packet sizes. Advanced Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing keep those packets moving. And QoS optimizes bandwidth for data, voice, and video traffic so vital applications always get priority. Series 7000 Routers are designed for easy setup and configuration. The Quick Start Guide walks you through the simple setup procedure so you can be up and running in no time! They're easily manageable through a command-line interface or any industry-standard SNMP software via an in-band network connection, the serial interface, Telnet, or a modem. Diagnostics include BERT, loopback testing, and traceroute. Series 7000 Enterprise Routers are the routers you need for large-scale enterprise connectivity. They're NEBS Level 3 certified - they've passed tests to ensure that they operate reliably even in adverse environmental conditions, don't affect colocated equipment negatively, and don't harm the environment or personnel. The routers are easy to rackmount on standard 19" or 23" rails with the included rackmount ears.
