...of release, being so successful it smashed previous records that were held by such movie greats as Flashdance, Grease and Saturday Night Fever, following the success of the first album for the first time in movie history a second soundtrack album was released, More Dirty Dancing, not surprisingly both remained in the top ten of the music album charts for some time and of course the title track “I’ve Had The Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes was merited with an Academy Award for the Best Original Song. Although I had bought both soundtracks on cassette tape years ago, in fact probably not long after they came out, I had forgotten all about them, well that is until I seen Ultimate Dirty Dancing advertised on TV, I knew I had to buy it and the next day I ordered it from play.com for a mere £11.99 which did seem... It is now almost seventeen years since the original soundtrack’s release (I know---can you believe it?), and BMG and RCA records has now released the Dirty Dancing Ultimate Soundtrack, which combines all the songs of the original two soundtracks on one CD, and adding some other elements which should please fans of the movie and the music. Of course, on the same weekend of this new soundtrack’s release (the first weekend in December), Artisan Entertainment, formerly Vestron Pictures, has now released the film in an Ultimate DVD Edition, which loads of extra features. I’m admittedly a fan of both the music and a movie (and no guys, I’M NOT GAY!!!, LMAO), though I can’t really bring myself to buy the new DVD, mainly because of all the effort... Read review
