I had never played an Olympics game on a PC or a console before playing this game.
What would you look for in that kind of a game? Personally, I think the variety of the sports branches are the most important and in this game you can play thirty eight branches of Olympic games including Judo, Swimming and even table tennis.
There are different game modes in the menu. You can choose the training section if you are new to game and you can get used to the controls of the game by using it. There are some tutorial like practices for you to get fit :)
In another mode, you can directly jump into action in whatever branch you like.
The "Olympic Games" section is just like what we have watched from the TV. You choose a country from a list of 32 countries to play with. However, not all the countries who joined the Olympic Games are available in the game and this is a real disadvantage in my opinion. You can participate 4 branches everyday and in order to be successful, you have to pass at least one of them. In the beginning of the game, you can also see the Olympic Stadium with some ceremonial stuff :)
You can build your own characteristics with the over all points to spend at the beginning.
The graphics of the game are satisfying. Especially the character models are looking great. It is not very easy to seperate them from real sportsmen while they are warming up before the events. The most realistic branch in the game is swimming. I think the movement animations and the water effects are looking great. However, I can't say the graphics of the environment is that good. It could be much better.
One of the biggest disappoinment with the game is the online feature. I mean, it doesn't have the best multiplayer function. I expected something better, don't know how to make it possible though. Additionally, while you are playing some branches you will have to press the same button so many times. As you can guess that will get boring after a certain time and will make your fingers tired. I think that kind of olympic games should focus on another kind of gameplay as this causes some disorder on fingers :-)
