Barsaat

Barsaat

Omnipresent Bollywood star Bobby Deol plays Badal, a scrappy but innocent young man newly arrived in the big city. He falls in love with beautiful heiress Tina (Twinkle Khanna),... more...and eventually, after the usual misunderstandings and confusions, his feelings are reciprocated. But Tina's stepfather (Raj Babbar), who has sinister designs on her wealth, will stop at nothing to keep the pair apart--not even murder. This lively film has all the romance, action, and drama viewers have come to expect from Rajkumar Santoshi, and won a Filmfare Award for its cinematography.

There are some stories which are often repeated and without much effect or success. But sometimes, the same dish is given a special 'tadka' as we like to call it in India and it comes off so much better and so much special. Barsaat, without any doubt, is one such example. It will always be remembered as the charming entry of the debutant duo of Bobby Deol and Twinkle Khanna. The story is of the good old son of a poor good man and daughter of a rich bad man falling in love and the usual action after that. But as I said, the film is something special in terms of its presentation. The dashing entry of Bobby Deol did the trick for me. One couldn't help but be in awe of Bobby's looks and his long hair. Twinkle Khanna also managed to carve out some space exclusively for herself. The ultimate music and background score of the movie coupled with the setting of the hills were the apt seasoning this staple diet required. I have seen this movie many times and have enjoyed it all the time. It is good time pass and even if you are not in the mood of watching the full movie, you can skim through some select scenes and the songs which have been picturized well. I would strongly recommend this movie to Hindi film lovers.
