B.B. King. The king of the blues
Review of B.B. King by jtbull46

Advantages: one of the best guitarists ever
Disadvantages: none

...all time greats. B.B. King was bown Riley king in 1925 in Itta Bena, Mississippi. He has been named to the top 100 guitar players of all time, and in many opinons he is the best blues guitarist ever. I would put him about a tie with Robert Johnson. He went to Memphis trying to make it on the blues scene( the best blues are in Mississippi so I have no idea why) he did not do to well, so he went home to Missisippi. He went back to Memphis two years ...
...years. In 2006 the B.B. King museum broke ground in Indianola, Mississippi. He has played on stage with the rock band Phish and also recorded and played with Eric Clapton. In June he played the 25th annual Chicago blues festival. All of his guitars carry the name Lucille. Long story short on that is that he was playing one night when a bar fight ( I thought they only happended in the country bars like I went to in college) out between to men and ... Read review

When legends collide
Review of Riding with the King - Eric Clapton & B.B.King by Excelle taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Slick blues sound, sounds absolutely top notch. BEWARE! Geniuses at work!
Disadvantages None. No - none at all.

...Some artists have to break themselves into the charts. Others have to try and replicate their past glories. Some even have to try and entertain whole new generations of fans. But there are some artists that need do nothing more than sit back and reel out yet another quality record. These are what we can easily refer to as out classic artists – the best of the best. 'Riding With The King' is exactly what a lot of us music fans have been waiting for – a collaboration between blues guitar genius B.B. King, and rock/blues guitar genius Eric Clapton. Is it brilliant? Well a) read the review, and b) you shouldn't need to ask anyway! It's quite impressive to think that while Clapton himself is almost 60, B.B. is over 70! Yet they're still going strong… - A Potted History Part 1 – B.B. King B.B. King (née Riley... Read review

BLUES AT ITS BEST
Review of Riding with the King - Eric Clapton & B.B.King by Algenon taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Blues at its best
Disadvantages Dated for young audience

...Being an old blues buff my current lady bought me this CD as a present. It is a golden addition to my collection which has many titles by these maestros of melancholy guitar. There are many re-makes of classic blues numbers that either artist has recorded. The CD culminates with a rendering of Come rain or Come Shine which seems to cement the friendship of these old masters. Across each track Clapton shines with a white man guitar style that contains more notes than the Bank of England. King is King, and his style is typical B.B.Blues. Both artists have voices that seem to have rounded with time, and mellowed with the years. If you are a fan this CD will give great pleasure. If you are new to the blues or either of these fine musicians, then you will hear what can be acheived by decades of practise, and a spot of genius.... Read review

Great live recording
Review of Live At The Regal - B.B. King by aprose taken from ciao.co.uk

Advantages Guitar playing
Disadvantages backing musicians

...This is one of the best B.B. King albums I have come across. It was recorded live in the mid sixties at the Regal theatre, Chicago and was rereleased on CD by MCA in 1997. B.B.King is one of the greatest ever blues guitarists and this album provides showcases his instinctive feel for the music. The songs themselves are classic tradiitonal Blues. They are brought to life by the guitar playing, but also by the audience reaction and King's easy rapport with the crowd. In my oppinion there is no better introduction to this sort of music and it would also please hardcore B.B.King fans.... Read review
