I got the Audiovox D8000IP about 1 month ago for my youngest son. I bought it with the intention of him using it during car rides and long trips, such as doctors visits and rides on the Seattle Ferry. I picked this particular model out because it was relatively cheap, it was video iPod capable, and I didn't need anything fancy.
I purchased the player from amazon.com for 100 dollars. It arrived in 4 days and I quickly put it to use as I had to take my kids on a car trip that was around 2 1/2 hours round trip. I loaded everyone up, and off we went. They started by watching a DVD of Spongebob. After they tired of that, i decided to use my 160 GB Video iPod to provide a larger variety of entertainment. I inserted the iPod and was flabbergasted when it wasn't working. When I got home, I called an Audiovox representative who nicely explained that the newer video iPod "classics" we not compatible due to Apple placing some kind of chip in them preventing such activities by anything except Apple products. Talk about a total bummer. I returned to Amazon, and to my surprise, they had written that the 60 and 80 GB models were not compatible. I didn't even bother to pay attention to that because I had a 160 GB model. So, I blame myself for this mistake!
All in all, the sound quality was great and the screen seemed to be nice enough for children. I recommend it for anyone who has a compatible iPod.
