I bought this iPod over a year ago with my Christmas money, and it's still going strong. It holds all of my music (20+GB) with no problems, plus a few TV shows and movies that I've bought from iTunes or converted on my PC. I also use what's left (over half) as an additional external hard drive, which was very useful for backing up important data when my computer was dying.
This iPod is very easy to use... it's easy to search through your playlists, artists, and songs to find what you want. The search function is a nice feature, so you don't have to go scrolling through everything to find what you want. If you do go scrolling, however, it will start going rapidly through the alphabet on your artists or songs so you can get to where you're going quicker. When you're on the letter you want, just slow down on the click wheel for a moment, then go to what item you wanted.
Speaking of the click wheel, this one doesn't seem to be as sensitive as the one on my old iPod Mini. Perhaps this is because I got a faceplate for it, but I think I noticed it even before putting that on. It's not terribly bad, but there have been times I noticed that it wasn't responding as quickly as I would have liked.
The screen is small, but clear for watching videos. I have to hold it fairly close to my face, but the resolution is good enough that I can even watch subtitled anime without killing my eyes. If you want a bigger screen, go for the Touch model, but this one is good enough for casual viewing on trips and such.
This iPod synchs easily with my iTunes, though sometimes there is a bit of a lag when I first plug it in. I'm not sure if that's the problem of my computer or the iPod, though. It also takes a good minute or so to eject, at times, which can be annoying if I'm running out the door. One other thing I've noticed is that if the iPod is "sleeping" when I plug it into the computer, it often locks up and I have to manually reset it. Not a huge problem, I just have to remember to wait till it turns back on before plugging it in.
Obviously, because of it's hard drive size, this iPod is a big heftier and chunkier than some of the other options. I can definitely tell when I'm carrying it around in my purse! But that's a decent trade-off for the space, so I'm happy with that.
The front and back of this are fingerprint magnets, so you'll want to get some sort of cover for it. The front screen can also get scratched if you're not careful, so again, get a cover. Oh, and you'll want to get different headphones than what comes with it... but that's a different review.
Otherwise, this is a great iPod for all of my music! I especially like the feature of being able to save an "on-the-go" playlist by holding down the center button on a folder or song. I've got several ones saved from road trips!
