I got my iPod when it first came out, it was really good at the time. I later realised that the Itunes and Quicktime software as the product description from Apple had promised had not been included.
I phoned them up the next day, and although I was kept waiting on the phone for about half an hour, when I was eventually transferred to customer services, I explained to the help person my situation and he sorted it out quickly and efficiently.
I recieved the software 3 working days afterwards. Overall, in my experience, i have had no other problems in the one and a half years i have owned this product.
In short: Its not as good as the iPod touch/phone however, does what I need it to do. In the year and a half ive had its stayed in good working order, and has given me many hours of pleasure.
