My sisters and I each received this iPod for Christmas not long after it came out on the market. At the time I was pretty indifferent to it, but. they were esctatic. In my mind I could not justify paying that much money for something that I beleived was a fad product. So while my sisters jumped around screaming I said a thankyou and hoped not to offend my parents.
My first experience using the iPod was a scary moment. I apparently didn't follow the instructions and unhooked the iPod from my computer without first telling the computer to release it. This caused the iPod to freeze up and I had no clue what to do to fix it. It was the middle of the night and I was scared out of my mind that my parents would kill me! Here it was, first time using my iPod and I had already broken it.
I went to my owner's manual and was able to locate instructions on how to unfreeze the screen, but it still seemed difficult to get it functioning again. I did get it working and after that I was much more careful about following the instructions! So there is a little quirk with the program but it is easily fixed and there are instructions on how to.
I later came to discover that this was a perfect gift for me! I am a music fanatic! I listen to music all the time, love all sorts of types, and spend a lot of time finding new and exciting music. I put my collection on my iPod and took it everywhere. Walking around campus, driving in my car, working out, listening to on airplanes and at airports, and falling asleep to, I used my iPod in all areas of my daily life. Who would guess I would go from sceptic to obsessed?
There are several things I love about my iPod. It's easy to take anywhere and the perfect size. I know I can drop it in my purse and be able to find it amongst all the junk that accumulates there, and that it won't be damaged during its time being shaken and jostled around. Also, I love that there are so many options to choosing what exactly I want to play. I can use a playlist, artist, album, or shuffle the songs, I have complete control what I get to listen to.
The iTunes program is easy to use on my computer, and I really enjoy making new playlists, putting them on my iPod and burning them to cds. I love the many ways I can organize and search for music within my collection. I can find music by title, artist, type, how much I've played it, and so on. And it's very easy to transfer my music to my iPod.
This iPod is unique because it does have so many ways to use it. I prefer the music, but there is also video and picture options available. My little sister put her photo album on her iPod, and she enjoyed it. I personally don't see the point, but to each her own. And there is a huge amount of memory, I don't even come close to using it all, but I could easily put all of my pictures on there.
One important thing about my iPod is that it has lasted and technology has not made it obsolete. Other than my first freeze up, I have not had a single problem. And there are always new extras being introduced that still work with my "old" iPod. I don't have to worry about replacing it, becacuse the new advancements don't leave mine behind in the dust.
There are few things that I don't like. For instance, I cannot figure out how to get a movie on my iPod. This hasn't been a huge problem for me because I tend to use my iPod in the background of my activities, but I would still like to know how. I haven't made a huge effort to figure it out after my first attempt, so it's possible that it's easy and I just never took the time to try it.
I definitely recommend iPod in general. There are tons of options out there and I think you should go out and find the one that will most suit your needs. I know I wouldn't be happy with a nano or shuffle, with small amounts of storage and lack of control over what is played. But I also know that I don't use a lot of the features to my video iPod. Go find one that fits your lifestyle and enjoy it!
