Advantages: Reasonable hard-drive space, Disadvantages: Battery runs low when using it for video.
...The iPod video, despite being the title I would not recommend it if you plan to put films onto it. It's fine if all you want is to watch short videos. Of course you can put pictures onto it if you want, not that I bothered. Any serious music fan would fill it easily, but it is more than enough space if you are just going out or even if you are going on holiday it's fine. Great for podcasting.
A skin is recommended as it does scratch quite easily. Battery is reasonable as long as you are only using it to listen to music.
Of course there are better value for money mp4 players, however, the iPod's cost comes with the fact it is an icon of style, or at least I'd like to think so....

Advantages: Great picture and sound quality Disadvantages: breaks if you blow on it.
...I have now owned three of these ipods and all of them malfunctioned within 6 months of having them. For a start this didn't encourage me to own anything made by Apple.
The players do have their good points. You cannot fault the sound quality of the players, nor can you fault their easy access menus and the click wheel system is just genius. I find that their color screen is also of a good clear crisp quality.
However, i still cannot get over the fact that behind all of this wonderful technology, is infact a poory made product, that isn't designed to last. The slightest tap on it and it seems to go wrong, which suggests to me that it isn't designed for the hussle and bussle of everyday life.
I therefore think that this player cannot be justified at it's price of over £100. It doesn't make for good value for money, when frankly (as i...

Advantages: stores tons of music Disadvantages: none
...I love my ipod! I bought this one when it was still pretty new, so I definitely spent a lot more on it than what it actually costs now, but I still think the purchase was worth it. I've had this ipod for a really long time now, and it's still not even close to running out of memory. I don't have very many full-length movies on it, but I do have a couple, and then tons of shorter videos and a TON of music. I really think 30GB is plenty of space, unless you're planning to have tons of movies on it.
I haven't had any problems with my ipod since buying it. The little earbuds that it came with didn't hold up so well, but the ipod itself is still in great condition and holds up well. It doesn't hold a charge for quite as long as it used to, but it still does quite well. I definitely think it's worth the money I spent on it....

Manufacturer's product description
Now that you can buy movies from the iTunes Store and sync them to your iPod, the whole world is your theater. With a 30GB or 80GB iPod in hand, those movies fit comfortably next to TV shows, new iPod games, podcasts, audiobooks, photo albums, and, of course, an entire library of music - up to 20,000 songs, in fact. How much can your pocket hold? That's up to you and your iPod. It holds up to 20,000 songs, up to 25,000 photos, and up to 100 hours of video - or any combination of each. So you can browse movies on the iTunes Store, download the ones you want (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, perhaps?), and then sync it to your iPod. Same goes for TV episodes, new iPod games, 99¢ songs, best-selling audiobooks, and an entire universe of free podcasts. Go ahead. Fill 'er up. With all that music at your fingertips, you may never want to stop listening. Lucky thing your iPod plays audio for up to 20 hours. Or, if you'd rather watch, you can feast your eyes on movies and TV shows for up to six-and-a-half hours. It might be a miracle. Otherwise, it's hard to explain exactly how 30GB of storage can fit into an iPod that's over 30% thinner than the previous fourth generation. Or how an 80GB iPod can be the same size as the 60GB model before it. However it happened, it means you can carry your entire music collection - plus a nice selection of video - absolutely everywhere you go. And a 60% brighter, more vibrant display gives your album art, photos, and video extra oomph. Finding what you want to hear among 20,000 songs could be quite a chore - unless you have an iPod. A new interface lets you search your iPod using the patented Click Wheel. And if you're a fan of live albums, classical works, or anything that sounds best when it's continuous, iPod supports gapless playback that seamlessly transitions from one song to another.
