Manufacturer's product description
Apple presents iPod - the first MP3 player to pack mind-blowing 1,000 songs and 10 hours of battery life into a stunning package you can literally take everywhere. It's your entire music collection. But iPod isn't just a revolution in portability, it's also a revolution in simplicity. With Apple's award-winning iTunes software, you can import and manage your entire music collection right on your Mac. Then simply plug in your iPod and all your music is automatically downloaded at blazing FireWire speed. Unplug iPod, stash it in your pocket, and wherever you go, all your tunes travel with you. With up to 1,000 songs at your fingertips, you'd think finding the one you want would be a hassle. Think again. An intuitive interface makes pinpointing any song as easy as it is with iTunes on your Mac. A convenient scroll wheel lets you browse through your collection and select exactly the song you want. Artists and songs are displayed on an easy-to-view LCD with a white LED backlight for clear visibility in low-light situations. Whenever you add new music or rearrange playlists in iTunes, simply plug iPod back in and it's automatically updated in seconds. The superfast FireWire connection transfers 1,000 songs from your iTunes library in less than 10 minutes - that's less than 10 seconds per CD. iPod also charges automatically while you're transferring music or data. And the 5-GB iPod hard drive holds more than just music. You can put your presentations, pictures, documents, and even entire digital movies on iPod, then carry them across town or across the country in your pocket. Your music will sound great on iPod. A high-output amplifier provides CD-quality sound with an extremely wide dynamic range. The result is deep, pulse-pounding bass and sharp, crystal-clear highs. Even the included earbud-style headphones are exceptional. They're equipped with Neodymium transducer magnets for enhanced frequency response and stunning, high fidelity sound. iPod provides up to 20 minutes of continuous skip protection so you can run, mountain bike, or climb rocks without missing a beat of your favorite songs. And with 10 hours of playtime from the built-in rechargeable lithium polymer battery, you'll tire out before your iPod needs charging. iPod: it's all about freedom. The freedom to enjoy your entire music collection anytime, anywhere.

Advantages Stores thousands of music tracks, Easy to use, looks cool Disadvantages Expensive
...I wanted a personal music player that could hold vast amounts of tracks that I could carry around in a compact device. After researching different players, i.e., cd walkmans that can play Mp3 tracks off disk and portable Mp3 players, some of which could only stores as little as 30 tracks at a time. I eventually came across Apple’siPod. An innovation in music technology if there ever was one.
The first things that caught my eye when I saw the iPod was it’s size, which is little bigger than a cigarette box and the fact that with it’s LCD display, scroll wheel for browsing the menu and it’s shiny metal back. This thing looked a very sexy gadget indeed!
I bought my iPod10Gb verson for windows (Apple Mac version also available) in Feb 2003 and since then it has been updated to the current version available, which has changed a little...

...Come on, what bad things can you say about the iPod? It's awesome! Even with the 10GB version, you'll never listen to all the songs at once, because it can hold so many (2,500 to be exact)
The style of the iPod is top marks. The excellent chrome finish on the back, with the translucent white front, along side the easy to use "wheel" and buttons, just looks brilliant! It's nothing like the cheap CD players we're all used to, and the plastic covers of mobile phones etc, this is a quality made product! Oh yeah, switch on the backlight at night, and the whole screen glows blue...sweet ;-)
My mates were extremely impressed with it when I showed them, and the added extra of using it as a 10GB hot pluggable hard drive is a massive bonus.
Not only does it play songs, you also have the ability to use it as an address book...
