Upon being convinced to switch from Windows to a Mac I began deciding on which to buy, the Macbook seemed like the only option. The Mac Mini didn't have the specification, or the portability I was after, and the Mac Pro, or Macbook Pro was far out of my price range for a first Mac. The Macbook is beautiful, quick for such a small machine and relatively lightweight. The Macbook is fairly cheap in comparison to other Mac's, for this reason I believe it makes the perfect choice for first time Mac users.
My time with my Macbook hasn't been without its share of problems. The Macbook doesn't feel very well built, with part of the plastic near the trackpad actually snapping off recently, and not to mention the "Magsafe Adapter", which recently began sparking and fizzing, to the point now, where it no longer works, and I'm forced to pay £60 (with today's conversion rate, $120) for a new one! I do hope Apple do a better job in the future when it comes to manufacturing their Macbook line as they are great products.
With these negative points aside, I do still believe this product has served me very well over the last year, and this is why I recommend it to anyone looking to switch to a Mac. If the Macbook is out of your price range, I would recommend the Mac Mini, however, if like me, having your device be portable is a major factor, its best to save up a little more for the Macbook.
