Advantages Something new, sounds very different Disadvantages Definately not for everyone, has been over-hyped
...Let me say - I Get Wet is a damn good album. Not really as good as a lot of people have been saying(i.e. Kerrang! gave it KKKKK - the highest mark they can give to an album, and they rarely give this out) and I'm not too sure about the 'saviour of rock' tag that he has had slapped on him; that may be going just a little bit too far. But then again he has also received his fair share of negative comments from a lot of music fans. But at least people are talking about him. Anyway, this is a very different sounding about from most of the stuff that's coming out at the moment, and he doesn't really have anything negative to say. These two points may put off a lot of the newer rock 'fans', as they will probably be used to all their music sounding the same - and filled with lyrics like 'Die Motherf*cker Die!!!' or something to that effect. Advantages Dumb, exhilarating, stoopid "Rawk" for the new millenium! Disadvantages This may start a Hair Metal Revival (shudder!!!)
...Hair Metal: If there is a term that conjures up more loathing in the mind of a rock fan from the early 90's onwards, it's that. Spearheaded by outfits like Motley Crue and Poison, it ruled the 80's rock scene until bands like Nirvana and Faith No More arrived and began to sound it's death-knell. And at last he has come, (looking not a little like Jesus, it has to be said) and his name is: AndrewW.K.
Hailing from New York City, AndrewW.K. (standing for alternatively: White Killer, Want Kicks, or Women Kum) has been going for a year now, releasing two EPs on independent label BULB. These EPs were charmingly entitled “Party ‘Til You Puke” and “Girls Own Juice”, and contained a high-energy throwback to the rock...

Advantages Stomping tunes Disadvantages A bit on the retro side
..., and we're told that the W.K stands for White Killer, after a serial killer.
And on to the music…
Again, it could be the next big thing… or maybe not… The single "Party hard" was released around a month ago, I heard it in my local record shop and it blew me away, it had 'instant hit' stamped all over it, in my view. It's not in the charts as yet, though - so much for that! Jo Whiley played it a lot - I guess it may not appeal to the 10 year olds who buy most stuff in the charts. The song itself is a glamrock-fest, high octane stomping rock, very much along the lines of Kiss, but, better than that, Cheap Trick (remember them?).
The lyrics are very simplistic - things like "Let's get a party goin", (kind of like the Beastie's "fight for your right to party" chorus), and very, very easy to sing along with, even if you're drunk.
Most...
