We purchased this air conditioning unit approximately one month ago. Although we paid close to $300.00 for it, a central air system was going to cost $2000.00 plus. It was purchased at a local department store. We live in a small house of about 1,000 square feet. This unit works efficiently and sufficiently to keep the main room of the house pleasantly cool. ...it is actually in the room. It sits almost flush with the window sill. The cord is long enough that we could put the unit in the window we wanted to and then plug it in on another wall. The window is actually taller than the unit but we had a friend build a top piece that reinforces the unit and also keeps outside air outside! There are three fans speeds: Cool/Fan/Heat. I have owned this Frigifaire air conditioner for a couple years now and its the best thing. It has a remote control that allows you to change the temp, the air level, the fan and to turn it on and off. Its small so it will cool a regular room pretty well. As you read this remember that I live in Florida and we know a/c's!!! LOL Due to the hurricianes of 2005 I lost my central air unit and have to use window units to cool this place.
