Manufacturer's product description
SnapScan 1236 is ideal for both home and office use. Designed for both PC and Macintosh platforms, SnapScan 1236 is a high-performance, SCSI-port color scanner, with a remarkably low price tag. It captures razor-sharp images up to 8.5" x 11.7" (A4) and can register more than 60 billion colors! This amazing color sensitivity extracts every last detail from your originals. And the optional transparency scanning module and automatic document feeder give you full flexibility and high productivity. For the dare-devils among you, we've created a dusky-gray version called the SnapScan 1236 Art line. And because you're adventurous people, we're including an additional range of image manipulation software from MetaTools: Kai's Power Tools SE, Bryce 2.0 SE, Convolver Full and Soap SE. SnapScan 1236 captures the detail and color depth you'd expect from a scanner of twice the price. Its true optical resolution of 1200 x 600 ppi gives impressively sharp images from photos, artwork, magazines or books up to 11.7" x 8.5". The optional transparency module scans slides and film up to 8" x 10". With its unusually high 36-bit sensitivity, SnapScan 1236 can register more than 60 billion colors. That's 4000 times the number used in any desktop publishing application! FotoLook's intelligent processing of this 'super-sampled' data results in rich images that retain important but subtle color changes, like skin tones and shadow details. Both the standard and Art Line models are equipped for direct connection to PC or Macintosh. The PC version includes an Adaptec SCSI interface
