The new Hi-RES tower loudspeakers from Acoustic Research were conceived as a defining statement of sound reproduction and dynamic response. Each internal component has been specially designed and fitted together to faithfully reproduce all of the dynamics of the original audio experience, consistently and on demand. And, thanks to side-firing low-frequency drivers, these sleek, elegant towers fit perfectly into any room decor and complement any architectural taste. The top-of-the-line AR1 is 3-way tower loudspeaker, utilizing a high efficiency Bob Carver/Sunfire amplifier. This amplifier features exclusive Tracking-Down-Converter (TDC) technology for an 85% power conversion efficiency, versus 15-25% efficiency found in conventional amplifiers. The benefits to this design are high-power, excellent sound quality, huge dynamic headroom and low-operating temperature. In addition, this amplifier contains a built-in Intelligent Parameter Control circuit (IPC) that protects the 15" side woofer and enables it to operate at its maximum level of performance. The AR1 employs proprietary 5-1/4" MagAlloy Monocoque Mid-Range drivers mounted in a dual-focused array with a 1" plasma transferred diamond-hardened titanium dome tweeter.
