Acer AL1715

Advantages Very low refresh rate, and reasonable price

...I recently bought a new gaming pc and believed that i would not be able to get a flat screen that would run my games well for a reasonable price. After doing some research however I found that not only did this screen have an amazingly low refresh rate, of 12ms, but it was cheap as well! I have not had a problem with dead pixels, as many other flat screens do, because acer is a respected brand I expected nothing less, and have had no other problems with it at all. I have been using it for 7 weeks now and have found it excellent. It runs games better smoothly and looks great on my desk, all for £150, what more do you want?... Read review

...I recently updated my computer setup and took the plunge and got a flatscreen monitor. I spent a while looking at models and reveiws and after much thought and costing I went for the Acer AL1715s. On the website we use "ebuyer.com," it was listed as being 12ms which is good and the res was brilliant too. When the monitor arrived it was infact 8ms and had a better ratio too so it was a good purchase from that stand point. The Acer itself was easy to setup with a metal black solid connection to the base plate which is pretty solid. After the connection was made and the cables attached it was connected to the computer. Using an ATI 256 mb 9550 graphics card it worked a treat. ...I bought one of these a few months back when I wanted to increase the size and resolution of my games PC display, and my online research had turned up a few PC suppliers who were bundling this screen as part of their 'Games PC' packages. And they weren't wrong - at this low price range, I've been very happy with the speed, the quality of the colour saturation, and the crispness of detail, not only in games but also in all other applications. It displays DVDs beautifully as well. This display also works brilliantly with Macs that have a VGA-compatible port on their graphics card - I have this monitor set up to switch between the games PC and a Powermac Quicksilver 2002, and the display on the Mac is also fantastic. Of course, Acer have been around for years as laptop manufacturers, so they will have long known a thing or two... Read review
