Expensive and sometimes my computer doesn't detect it

I purchased this video card so I could upgrade my computer and play some games on it. I mostly play Sims2 games so I probably spent more than I needed to but I have really enjoyed the awesome graphics.
The video card was surprisingly easy for me to install. This was the first time I ever opened up my computer so I was really what you would call a beginner when it came to installing it. It took very little time to install and the instructions were very detailed and helpful. I was happy that I didn't have to call a friend to install it.
Games aren't the only thing that look great with this video card. I love watching movies on my computer just because it looks so good. It is really great and probably more than I needed but I wouldn't want to have anything less after seeing it.
My husband was delighted with the fact that you can hook an HD screen up to it and since he is a gamer he decided to upgrade from our old monitor. The video card has been pretty reliable for a long time now but from time to time when I start my computer I get a black screen saying that the card is not functioning/ installed. I don't think my computer is detecting the video card because many times I have had to open the computer and unplug the video card and plug it back in before it works. I don't know if it's just getting old or if it's the computer.
Overall, this was a great buy. It lasted a long time and worked really well. My computer is about 5 years old now and quit working so it's hard to say how long the video card would have lasted (video card was not as old). I may try it in our new computer but my husband wants to get a newer one. It was a bit expensive but I don't regret it at all.
