...cost. Concerned with this issue, Asus released their product ASUS EEE PC, a mini notebook series.
It was launched first time in Indonesia on January 2008 and in Singapore December 2007. It becomes the most waited product this year for consumers in Asia because of its uncommon size. Their first model to be introduced here is their 701/4G model. I couldn't manage to purchase it on the grand launching since it was all sold out. I had to order it and ... ...memory upgrade. It's relieving that Asus Singapore had a press release which finally permitted users to break the sticker without losing the warranty.
PERFORMANCE
It takes about 15 seconds from the moment I switch ON button to screen login. The advantage of SSD (Solid State Disk) storage is valued through how fast booting time is, which is 15 seconds. The notebook is pre-loaded with Linux (Xandros OS) customized by Asus, along with pretty ...

As a college student, I needed something portable, light-weight and easy to use, and the EEE is all of that and more.
As a secondary laptop, it does all that it needs to do: Browse the internet, chat, write reports, presentations, you name it. It comes with pre-installed programs so you get everything going fast. This model also comes with a built-in webcam which works great.
On the hardware side, this laptop is built for the casual user in mind, ... ...4GB flash drive space actually turns into 1.25gb more-or-less after all the updating, so make sure you purchase a USB Drive or SD Card for extra storage. The battery life also only around 1.5 to 2 hours long (max) which is a bummer.
Overall, I highly recommend this laptop for any college student, casual user, or just someone that needs an ultra portable laptop to take anywhere. The battery life and storage capacity keep it from being a perfect product, ...

Advantages: Portability, effectiveness. Disadvantages: Runs on Linux.
...termed their target. Asus came up with their innovation in the field of portable computers, the way which I love describing laptops, and released their ASUS Eee PC 4 G for the delight of the Laptop users. As the name states, the ASUS Eee PC 4 G comes 4GB HDD which can be extended to 8GB. The PC uses a Celeron processor from Intel with 512MB of DDR2 or memory. It is too little to accomodate in your pocket which saves a lots of space. Actually we can ... ...don't find any reason why ASUS gone with Linux which is too heavy for the new entrants to the world of PC. Anyway, ASUS has customized it a lot to make it customer friendly.
The 7 inch display screen, the TFT display rather, is really bringing up a readable interface for your work and you can well recognize and perfrom according to your use. For connectivity, you have the USB and SD card reader. The tiny product, ASUS Eee PC 4 G, may revolutionised ...

Advantages battery life, easy to use, quick to start, alright quality webcam Disadvantages small hardrive
...What a amazing thing. Got home from buying it put the battery in and the charger and was away. I was amazed at how light the laptop/UMPC was. The keyboard may look small but after typing on it for a while i am now fine with it infact it feels weird to type on a normal sized keyboard now. The startup speed amazed me how within 10 seconds it will be up and running great for the times when i needed to check something quick. The storage of the wifi routers names is a great idea just click and select and your connected to the internet. The screen may look small but is infact adequate enough for my needs (internet, word, and the occasional game) cant fault the operating system on it although people new to linux may want to have a look at the asuseee wiki (http://wiki.eeeuser.com/) which will help you install new programs etc. Battery...

Advantages fast internet connection (inbuilt wireless) Disadvantages simple games, low memory
...documents. Mail can be used easily to transport work from computer to computer, and an easy navigable document save interface is helpful. However the 4G fills up quickly if your saving all of your work on the flash drive,I suggest buying either an SD card or like I did an external hard drive.
Learn:
The learn tabs are helpful for school children, teaching them of constellations and the periodic table, but it also good for students like me with software to draw graphs using f(x)= and a certain function.
Play:
First of all this is not a laptop to buy for an avid gamer, it is not a gaming laptop. It has some nice, simple games like crack attack and frozen bubble which are good if your really bored. On this tab a really good music and video player if found, voice recorder and web cam. The web cam is 3000 pixels and found on the top...

Advantages Size, robustness, weight, Linux Disadvantages Screen estate
...- do not attempt this unless you are experienced at dismantling computers! Hopefully, Asus will add this mod into the next gen of EEE PCs as it really would make it the ultimate machine.
The keyboard is a little difficult to get used to at first, as it is smaller than your average tablet, but it doesn't take long to accustom yourself to the proximity of the keys, and the action is smooth.
The machine does tend to get a little warm on the front left hand side, but as my machine hasn't even frozen up yet once in the two months I have had it, I don't think this is an issue. And in winter, it keeps your hands warm!
I have to mention the wifi connectivity. There are 3 in-built antennas for wireless, and this makes it one of the most impressive machines for finding wi-fi hotspots/connectivity that I have tried. It beats two smartphones...

Advantages: Small works as a fully functional computer. Disadvantages: Hard drive space.
...I had got the AsusEEEPC last year and was all up in arms, this pc is the ultimate portable laptop. Its small, weights under 2lb!! has a fully working key board witch I found hard to adapt too at first but after a bit its like a normal keyboard. Everyone's first impression of this computer is usually "its small so how can it fully work like other laptops?" well I'm no professional so I'll just say IT CAN!! It has the ability to run windows XP Home edition, witch i have running on it. It has a built in mic and webcam, has 3 USB, lan and modem plugs, a SD or HCSD card slot, monitor out plug, and of course the headphone and mic jacks. The speakers sound really good for being so small! the cam looks really good for being small! And the mic is I think average. There are downsides of course. There's always down sides.. the 4gb hdd. But! You...

Advantages: very portable, easy to carry Disadvantages: using only SSD not a hard drive
...This is actually great for us students, we can now buy non expensive wi-fi capable note book pc, 7" bright with good contrast display, pretty portable isnt it? with built in Linux OS and 2000MB Flash Drive, now with 3 more colors to choose from; pink, blue and green, Apple like clean design with no removable access panels. Memory in the EeePC 2G, both RAM and the Solid State Disk (SSD), are not user upgradable. Unlike the 8G and early models of the 4GEeePC, the memory is soldered into place.
Cons: using only flash drive,
you can upgrade to XP though you need a separate supplied XP driver set and buy a license.
limited battery life to 3.4 hrs compared to others.
