Advantages: very portable, easy to carry Disadvantages: using only SSD not a hard drive
...This is actually great for us students, we can now buy non expensive wi-fi capable note book pc, 7" bright with good contrast display, pretty portable isnt it? with built in Linux OS and 2000MB Flash Drive, now with 3 more colors to choose from; pink, blue and green, Apple like clean design with no removable access panels. Memory in the EeePC2G, both RAM and the Solid State Disk (SSD), are not user upgradable. Unlike the 8G and early models of the 4GEeePC, the memory is soldered into place.
Cons: using only flash drive,
you can upgrade to XP though you need a separate supplied XP driver set and buy a license.
limited battery life to 3.4 hrs compared to others.

Advantages: Small, light, highly mobile Disadvantages: Small keyboard, no optical drive
...At $295 and featuring Linux Operating System, you cannot go wrong. It works right out of the box and is pre loaded with productivity software (Open Office), media explorers / players (Picture organizer, movie player, music library organizer and player), Learning software and games. It is very customizeable, too. It is small and light, and very portable. The size of a standard hardcover book, it fits nearly anywhere; totes, messenger bags, briefcase, shoulder bags, eco-friendly shopping bags, you name it. That said, don't expect this little jewel to fulfill all your needs. It does not have an optical drive and the built in SSD is only 2 GB. The operating system and applications take 1.7 GB. It is great as a second, highly mobile computer. But you have options for storage, such as USB drives and SD cards. These can be bought pretty cheaply...

...it come. Included with the laptop is a disc to upgrade the eeepc to windows, something I have not done, as you need a computer to do this. I may try this, but I don't really see any major benefits to doing this.
The last thing I will mention is the very small hard drive (2gb). I also have a computer (which isn't with me atm) so the space space available isn't really a problem for me. I have a sd card for extra storage, and could always buy an 8gb storage card should I feel the need or even get an external hard drive.
Overall I really love this device. It comes everywhere with me. The battery doesn't last long (2-3hrs I've found) but hey, I'm never often far from a power socket....

...asusEEEPC
This review is of the relatively new asusEEEpc. Its been quite fun using and reviewing this one as its not like your usual laptops, and in many ways its a lot worse however at the end of testing it iv got to say I really like the asusEEEpc and however rubbish it might be I think I will end up buying one if some of the features just improve a little or if the higher spec editions become cheaper.
I'm reviewing the cheapest version of the EEEpc as it's the one most people would choose to buy. It think if I was going to purchase any of them I would want the best one however as its only something I would use on journeys it simply wouldn't be worth all my money so id have to get this cheaper version of it.
This one is currently the cheapest one and is still quite dear at £200. I do think they will get cheaper in the future...
