The Avidia System's versatility is delivered through a choice of concentrator chassis (and a 20-slot voice shelf). The result is a common platform that can be deployed to fit individual networking and communications environments. The Avidia System concentrates about twice as many ports into a single repeater bay as that of the nearest competitor - which means that you can serve a lot more users in a smaller amount of space. This saves you a significant amount of money, especially if you're renting space in a central office. Additionally, an intelligent power control mechanism reduces average system power consumption to well under 1 watt per subscriber.
