311 is a really cool rock band based out of Omaha, Nebraska. They have a very unique sound and their lyrics can be pretty catchy. There are five people that make up the band: 1) Nick Hexum 2) Tim Mahoney 3) Chad Sexton 4) P-Nut 5) SA Martinez The band has released 9 albums since 1993. The songs vary on each album. ...One of my favorite 311 songs is the cover of Love Song that was originally performed by The Cure. This song was also in the movie 50 First Dates with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The band's style is kind of like a cross between The Beastie Boys and The Red Hot Chili Peppers. ...Pepper is an amazing band hailing from Kona, Hawaii. If you like bands along the lines of 311, you'll love Pepper! My first exposure to them was actually at one of their concerts (which I must admit tend to draw younger crowds ... of the under 21 variety and their parents who are dragged along to chaperone) in New York City. They put on a fantastic show and kept the crowd moving and energized throughout. For the last song, they even invited up their opening bands and they all collaborated on a version of "Don't Stop Believing" which absolutely drove the crowd nuts. They are amazing live and although I've only heard songs off their album "Shame" (which is a great listen), I'm very much looking forward to their new album coming out in July as well as their tour in Summer 2008 (Tailgate Tour with Slightly Stoopid).
